Why do you think Opal wanted to know ten things about her mother? Can you tell what her mother is like from the ten things her father describes to her? Do you think that ten things can really describe a whole person?
I think we always want to know things about people in our family. I never met my mother's father (he died before I was born). Since I will never get the chance to meet him, I ask questions to try and get a sense of who he was. I don't think ten things can really describe a whole person, but it is a good start.
I think opal wanted to know 10 things about her mother because she was 10. Also because she really really really wanted to know about her mother. Also I imagine her mother as someone very nice but playfull,and also has a great sence of humor.Lastly,I do think 10 things can discribe a person.
Opal probably wanted to know things about her mom because she didn't know anything about her since she wasn't there. Ten things only tells you a little not everything. Ten things can describe a person, but ten things won't tell you everything you need to know.

I think that you can get to know people when you find out 10 things about them. But the more you find out about them the better you will know them.
